2036 East 11th Street

It was designed by Bruce Goff, and it was built in 1928. 


"Projecting sills and lintels form horizontal bands on the building. The front entry way door was orginally accented with diagonal mullions. Bands of diamonds extend to the top windows. A fur storage addition designed by Koberling & Fleming was added in 1940."

Hawk Dairies Building

Lead-lined window panes.

Elongated vertical shapes.

Geometric.


2415 East 11th Street

It was designed by Gerad W. Wolf of Kansas City, MO, constructed by Jack Owen Stegall of Tulsa, and built in 1948.


My Nana pointed this out to me as we were looking at the dairy. She said that this was the kind of car that brought milk and other dairy products to the building. It was really cool getting to see it.


Will Rogers High School

3909 East 5th Place

It was designed by Leon B. Senter and Joseph R. Koberling, and was built in 1939.

The building is very symmetrical, with twin towers and intricate detail.

This is a blog for the History of Design spring 2012 course, taught by Jeff Price and David Crismon.

I chose the Art Deco period. Why? Because I have access to Tulsa, the second biggest Art Deco city in America.
